Hi all! Just wondering if anyone else has this problem with their rollout nest box. Mine rolls to the front and there’s a door to lift to get the eggs. The girls are trying to grab the eggs out by trying to roll it back out with their beaks. They break the eggs in doing so. I bought this rollout because we have a heavy breed that broke one of her eggs and started to eat it. The rollout work for awhile but after they molted, they are now trying to roll them out.

I’m going to try and put a light curtain in front of the hole where the eggs roll to and see if that works. I was going to use reflective material to maybe distract them from seeing the eggs.

anyone had this problem with their rollout nest boxes?

Oh no! I was thinking about getting those, but that isn't good. I think a little curtain between them and the egg will do the trick.

Do you have a couple broodies or something? My girls don't get too worried about their eggs, or me taking them, unless they are broody. When they are, it's really so sad. I hate taking them from them, and I wouldn't if the eggs were fertilized.

Let us know how the curtain works out!
