Roll out nest boxes

I like the idea of building a roll out nest box, because I've got a bit of an egg eating problem.

I have no experience with them, but it would seem to me that you wouldn't be able to put any nesting material in the box. Does this discourage the chickens from using the boxes? Does the slant freak them out?

I tried a premade one with a slant. My girls HATED them. I had to put so much hay in to make them happy that nothing rolled. That's my experience. Do you only have one egg eater or is it a big problem? I haven't had to deal with that.

I don't really know how many are pecking at the egss.

Haven`t tried it yet, but I`ve read recently that eggs can be opened and drained, then filled with either mustard or dish soap. Then they are sealed with hot wax and put in the nest. Surprised chicken and no more egg eating. Hope it works for you........Pop
