I am not big on treats for the ducks, they are the foragers here so i don't overdo it but i have been tossing them some romaine as i am bringing it out for the chickens anyways, they suck that up like dustbusters lol

Who knew? they are mediocre on peas, and not much really gets them running(you seen a duck run?

)

Just sayin' for the picky duckies out there, perhaps a bit of Romaine maybe worth a shot.

When we go to Sams club i buy the big 6 pak. of romaine for my flock, they love it in winter, won't touch it in summer. I give them 2 heads a week, sounds like alot but I'm feeding that to 32. They also like chopped cabbage in the winter. not in the summer, I guess theres too much other stuff to eat in the summer.

My little darlings WILL NOT touch peas. They run from them. But they do love Romaine Lettuce. That's probably their favorite, next to tomatos and red bell peppers (they hate the green ones). Go figure!

I brought Romaine lettuce today to the lake knowing the geese go crazy over it. I knew one duck liked it, so I went over to where he was to give him some and all the ducks there went bonkers over it. They wouldn't even let the one duck get hardly anything. Today, most of what I fed was the heart of the lettuce. I sometimes like to give them my extra lettuce that would go bad, otherwise, but I don't do it that often.

2 heads a week for 32 ducks? My 10 Pekins eat 2 heads a day and still eat peas, tomatoes and anything else they find roaming the yard and pond!

Yep 2 big heads and of course other things but this is a special treat. they forage for most of their greens just don't have much this time of year.

Your probably right, being winter an all(ok well close enough lol) they don't have much in the way of greens... i was really surprised they are more into foraging than what we give other than the staple feed.

I am not a club member but i try to get it on sale, usually about 99 cents a head.

It's a mixed reaction here to peas, some do, some don't. They won't touch tomatoes, peppers i have yet to try? hmmm
