Roman Tufted Goslings

Well, I got my 5 Holderread babies this morning. I ordered the Show Quality assortment from them. Ended up with the one breed I had little interest in. Has anyone else ordered the show assortment from Holderreads before? What kinds of birds did you end up with? Millie was talking there would be a good chance I would get some Africans but I guess that fell through. Also has anyone had experiences with roman tufted if so what are they like compared to Chinese? Quieter? Friendlier?

Roman Tufteds are my 2nd favorite breed, right below Sebastopols. They are a very quiet, docile breed, a bit shy and a wonderful goose. They are really sweet.

I have some goslings and I have an adult female, Olivia. She is just such a sweet girl. I have some Roman Tufted eggs in my incubator as well.

I have both Sebastopols and Roman Tufted and they both are about the same as far as personality. I don't think you can go wrong with them, honestly.

I also have a Brown Chinese gander. Let me tell you that the Romans are NOTHING like the Chinese. Bugle boy is loud! Hence his name! LOL

And where are the pictures of these sweet goslings of yours?!?

You'll end up loving your Roman Tufted - don't waste any time on buyer's remourse. Just start loving those little creatures - they are truly awesome! They are not loud and make wonderful parents and I have not had one agression issue in three years.

Hope this works. New to this picture posting format. BTW they are growing on me. They seem so quiet and docile after dealing with White Chinese! I gave them a swim in the tub tonight with some mustard greens. They looked like they were in heaven.

Roman Tufteds are right up there with Sebastopols for me as well.
Very mellow and quiet.

You'll love them! There are also some really silly, cute names that suit "Tuffies" better than other breeds.

I have several Roman tufted geese and they are actually my favorite. I also have Sebestolol, Emden and Toulouse to compare to. The females are very sweet natured and relatively quiet for geese. You will love them

I'm noticing how much calmer they are in comparison to my white chinese goslings. Not nearly and loud or spastic. Thanks for the opinions and I'm starting to see why they are such a great breed.

I recieved 8 goslings yesterday from Hilderreads as well. One of them is a tufted Roman also. We just love the little to pieces! We named him Lyle since his hairdo looked so much like Lyle Lovett.

I have no idea what the othe geese may be. Not really sure how to tell them apart. We had one that had gotten slipped tendons in transit so we spinted his legs and he is up running around with the others and doing great.

I was watching the hatchlings today with my DS and said something about how we didn't know what cute was until we got ducks last year. His reply was something along the lines of "yeah, but geese are even better!". I agree.

If you get some pics up i can help tell you the breeds you have. I would be curious to know what you ended up with. I guess they usually say what you have under the lid of the box they come in but I guess Monday was very hectic for them and didn't write the breeds they sent out.

I love that name Lyle.. LOL they do kinda remind me of Lyle Lovett..

They're awesome geese! Very smart and good natured. My girl was killed by a mink this winter, she was just the prettiest and most gentle bird I've ever had. So my gander is paired up with a Toulouse hen who is sitting on eggs.

My gander decided that while his girl is busy, he's going to take care of the almost mature ducklings. He stands watch over them all day and night, it's really quite cute. And he always gets mad when the Muscovy drakes or the roosters fight. He'll very quickly race across the yard and break it up.
