On my birthday a chicken landed on my roof - three years ago. She became very possesive of our yard and chased all the prowling cats away. She sleeps high up in a tree and flies quite well. She gets very broody and lays 13 eggs at a time. The thirteenth egg nobody can take from her nest. She lays her eggs in a flower pot at our front door. She sits on the nest for 2 months and becomes very thin and miserable. My daughter lives on a farm and they bought some little guinea fowls and raised them and later let them loose. She brought a guinea fowl egg and we let her breed it. She was a very strict mother and raised a fine guinea fowl. We thought it was a male and because these two are inseparable we called them Romeo and Juliet. However one day Romeo was dancing around Juliet sitting on her nest and lay an egg. Romeo is a female. She lays her eggs next to the mother's nest and we prepared a big basket for her. I am not taking collecting the eggs to see if Romeo wants to breed. She has laid 34 eggs and is still not breeding. Romeo and Juliet love watching TV. Romeo lies flat on the ground when I come outside and loves to be picked up and stroked. I love them. How many eggs do guinea Fowl lay. If Romeo settles down and gets broody I will also give her a fertilized egg. I am on face book if someone wants to see the photos.
