As long as he can see and breathe, the blood is not really going to hurt him. And while he is separated from the rest, they cannot peck it either.
If you can stand to leave him alone, he will probably look much better in a few days. Much of the blood will either come off on its own, or he will groom off the parts he can reach when he is feeling better.
If the blood bothers you too badly, maybe try gentle wiping with a damp cloth on the worst areas. You could soak any specific area by holding a damp cloth against it, if he will co-operate long enough for that. Maybe start a movie, put him on a towel in your lap, and just expect it to be a long job?
It is possible to give a chicken a bath, but I have never done it. People who enter chickens in shows would have more experience (there are probably some threads about it.) Obviously you would need to make sure he gets thoroughly dry afterward. You have a good point about his face being the hardest part to clean with a normal bath.
You could choose to clean up some of the worst areas and leave some other areas, rather than trying to make an all-or-nothing decision.
Comb wounds do make a LOT of blood, but thankfully they also tend to heal fairly quickly.
