My cockerel just discovered his “manhood”, problem is, only ONE hen will allow him to mount. So I catch him on top of her all day long. How much is too much??? No bald spots, no blood, she doesnt seem to be bothered too much. I honestly dont even think he knows what he’s doing yet. He doesnt even have his spurs yet. But since she’s the only one accepting him, he is mounting her all day long. Shall i be concerned? When should i be concerned?
Thanks!

You might give her a time out, maybe every so many days, just separate him. Or add roosts in the run, some platforms and hideouts, letting her put some distance from him if she wants. However, if she is eating and laying, and actively walking around, I would not worry.
Thank you. They have access to the whole yard, so plenty of space to run and hide if she needs to. So long as she is ok, i am ok. And it sounds like she can decide for herself, so now i dont have to worry about it. Thank goodness! 😂

Personally as long as she isn't uncomfortable I wouldn't worry. Maybe get her a saddle so she doesn't start losing feathers
Thank you. This is all new to me, so i am unsure when i need to step in, and when i just let them figure it out themselves. I’ll watch her behavior. If she seems fine, then i’ll let things be. Thanks again!
