Thanks so much for your help in identifying what gender my two little chicks are(they are around 6 weeks old). I am suspecting one roo and one pullet, but I could be totally wrong. On the last picture, the pink/red on the comb is from someone pecking her I think - anyway, it didn't have any color, and then there was color from what appears to be a peck mark within about 30 min. of her being outside. Too, the one with more black in the crest had just been drinking and playing in the water - so the front of its crest is wet, all the feathers in the crest are more rounded than the other lighter one. What do you think???

YAY - Thank you!! What photo shots would help or make it easier? Or is it that they are still too young yet? I looked at them again tonight, and the feathers on their heads are two different styles. One is full and rounded, the other soft and full, but narrow. Both of them promptly fell asleep once I picked them up. I love them, they are too adorable!!!

The pullets should come in looking like peonies, right? The roos more like ... oh, say, a fern? palm tree? The feathers are more narrow, right? If this helps any, the one with the dark crest feathered in Way faster than the lighter one - they are the same age. I will try to get additional photos of them. But I am pretty sure they are a pair, IF I have the pullet/roo feathering type down correctly. Thanks again!!!

Wow, um, I'm embarrassed to say I haven't named them.

Hoping that doesn't make me a bad chicken mom? I think that they do need names though, eh? Being that they are a special pair. When I went out to the pen tonight I asked "where is my other crested chick?"(the girl was already perched on my arm) and he came running to me from the back of the pen. It was soo Darling!!! Gosh, I guess I could probably drone on about these little chicks. Typically my chickens end up being named something odd. Like 'Jury' - she was the chick that always got herself injured some how so we named her Injury, 'Jury' for short. Maybe I will name the roo 'Racket' - because as a tiny chick he was always makin' such a racket with his incessant chirping. As for the little pullet, well, the Polish pullets remind me of a double blooming peony or similar flower. I might call her 'double stuff'; or 'Minuet'(name of one of my favorite peonies) ... I really don't know. Ideas??
