We have 2 set ups. 7 birds in our permanent coop. 3 youngers in a newly built chicken tractor. Last night one of the bigger birds was missing, and was found in the tractor on a roost (the 3 youngers were cowering on the other roost). We took him back to the big bird home. Someone didnt close the gate, so this am all big birds were out and about (we havent been letting them out til afternoon. Younger get let out all day right now). And one of them, I'm guessing same as last night was by himself (away from the big bird flock) and at the tractor. He chased the youngers away, and then back but they escaped thru the fencing to the middle pasture, and he couldnt follow. He then went and roosted in the tractor. Like "all mine".

Now both coops are not together. The permanent one is in the back of the house and the tractor is currently in the front waiting on wheels when it will be moved to the pasture. The bigger birds have always tended to stay In the back w the occassional jaunt in the front. The youngers prefer the front and pasture (our home sits at the back of the property so the front is several acres).

The other thing is of my 7 bigger birds, we just found out 5 are roos. Yay for us. So I'm wondering if this roo decided he was tired of all the roos and decided the tractor was more accomodating and he could easily be top dog there? (Or rather top bird) Or is this just normal behavior?

Yep. He thought he could be top roo in the tractor. Normal behavior. Even without having extra roosters they can change coops.
