I have 48 chickens and eight of them are roosters, they all get along like family, but I' am wondering if that's just way too many roo's?

I mean they really don't fight, and the sleep all together, and the kinda share the hens.

How old are they? Mine started fighting at about 6 or 7 months of age.

All of them all full grown, all the roo's are around 1 year except one he's older but I'm not sure by how much, you can tell though buy watching him and the others.

In my experience I'd say you have about four roosters too many. Whenever my ratio of roos got further than about one roo per dozen hens, my biggest problem wasn't the roos fighting, it was the roos making the backs of my hens bald from too much mating. I think that you'll know if you have way too many roos when you start to see problems. Until then, enjoy the fact that they are all civil to each other at least. It's more than I can say for my family sometimes!

Well what's really weird is they all go after the darker hen's. We have a good mixture of colors, but they want the darker ones for some reason.

Pretty much!

But my poor hen's backs. The EE's and Buff orpingtons, and others look like show quality compared to them.

I'm wondering if I just got some saddles and put them on my dark ones, I'm wondering if they will go for the lighter ones then?
