Roo trying to mate chicks

I have a young roo who keeps trying to mate with my chicks some only 6/7 weeks . He completely ripped the feathers of one the other day and her back was all bloody, is this normal ? and can he hurt them any more than feathers on thier backs ?

id keep them separated if it were me.

I would definately seperate them. The chicks are much too young for that. I think the feathers will eventually grow back but the trauma for the roo will tend to make them much more skittish. Poor babies. Make sure you clean the sore parts well and I would put a bit on antibiotic cream on it.
