I rescued a Silkie Roo a month ago. He was emaciated! (I am also a wildlife rehabber). Kevin is doing so well now. He has nearly doubled in weight and his keel is not nearly as sharp. I’ve been careful with his food to avoid mbd and gaining weight too fast.
I thought in the beginning he was too weak to jump. He jumps DOWN but it is lacking any grace. He runs well and is so very happy. I have made several perches at varying heights in the run. And lowered the coop roost to 8”. His ladies (also rescues) use the roost just fine.
So is it because he is a Silkie that he can’t jump? Or he needs more time for his legs to get stronger?
