Hi.
I have this metal run to bring back into action for hens. Needs a non-tarp roof. We in UK so wind rain but being south rare to have snow and certainly never much! Ideas on how to roof it as is metal poles but not pitched. There is a useless arch across top that can be removed. I’d be grateful if all thoughts. I want affordable fast and least hassle options.

@Henhouse1001, since most people reading this are in the US, I'll add that your dimensions are roughly 10 feet wide, and 6 feet deep.

The 6 foot dimension is rather long to span with no support in the middle. Metal roofing is probably the cheapest option, but unless you run the sheets "the wrong way," ie, the ribs going length-wise instead of up and down, you will have to put something in the middle to attach the seams to. This is the kind of roofing I'm talking about. The panels are 3 feet wide, different lengths are available.

Even running the ribs lengthwise, they will sag over a 6 foot span. One good thing: They will bend around curves if installed in that direction, so you could put your arch back on to avoid corners at the peak.

This is exactly what my husband did when he built my coop, but the metal was laid over plywood.

You said you rarely get snow, so that's a plus in this case. I do get snow, and I broom off the roof in the morning if we have more than a dusting.

Half of my run is covered by a heavy duty tarp. The tarp is going into its fourth winter. I see a few pinhole sized holes in it, but that's all. I put a layer of chicken wire over metal tubing frame to support the tarp over the spaces, but I have at most a 4 foot span.

I ziptied the grommets to the fence/hardware cloth I have for the sides of the run so it's tight and doesn't flap in the wind. We get rain, snow, sleet, wind, and sun. This has worked well for 4 years, so I don't see changing it.
