This is the coop the entire family is working on. Four feet on left is a shed areavand door to coop. Sand will be in the first three feet and shavings for thevdeep litter method will be the rest. Total outside is 12 x 16. Coop walls ard insulated to ceiling of eight feet however would you put a ceiling at eight feet eith 1/4 hardware cloth to kkep out anything comini in roof or just wire cloth so it is open to the peak and insulate the roof raftwrs and with what?

Tne door into the coop is half wire cloth and thevareavabove nest boxes is too. On the sides of the roost there is plywood

Wonderful job! Is someone in your family a carpenter? I think whatever you decide to do will be perfect.
my son-in-law and daughter put the posts in and builders framed it out and we're all refinishing and putting in the moldings, insulation, wiring, doors, windows, etc. my daughter and SIL put the concrete posts in the ground - he loves to do this stuff, only problem is the time and these chickens need inside ASAP!

Insulation not really needed.
I would put 1/2" hardware cloth on the underside of rafters to keep bird from roosting up there.
What kind of ventilation do you have...are soffits open?

That is a sweet looking setup!
