Rookie question

My pullet just started laying 4 days ago and I have gotten a egg a day from her yay!! My question is my cockerel is the same age as her and he is already breeding her is it normal that they start breeding right after they begin to lay eggs?

Most cockerels mature sexually prior to the pullets and will start breeding even before they are laying.
