Rookie question

Hey everyone!

Our older Silkie girl laid her first egg since we adopted her a few months ago, we would love for her to hatch some chickies, however she laid the egg in the middle of the backyard and seemed to have no interest in it? It was completely unattended when we found it. She doesnt seem to be broody, so does that mean she has no desire to sit on them?

She does not sound broody, no. But Silkies are notoriously broody hens, so I guess it's only a matter of time before she'll start thinking about hatching out some chicks for you.
