how much room do these birds need. I have read they need much more then a chicken is this true from experience?

10 sq ft. in the run per bird and 4sq ft per bird in the coop.

for bantams you can do 8sq ft in the run and 2 sq ft in the coop.

I have bantams and they are spoiled with more then enough room they have a coop of 8x4 and a run of 16 x16. So if I want I could get a lot more birds.

I think they need more room than chickens mostly because they don't deal with confinement as well. When I have to lock mine up they pace the fence, squabble with everyone and are generally much more stressed. When they free range, they will be 4-5 times farther away from the coop than the most brave hen.
