Roost addition is in place, still have to put the metal steel roof, that will cover the plywood on the roof (did stain and water proofed the roof plywood), and add the screen window cover to finish. Of course it went over the budget, by double...lol So redoing the run is on hold (wood frame with hardware cloth) for now. Right now run is made with PVC pipe and welded black wire, tarp on top most of it and a side shade that goes up about 3/4 and 80 inches long (I made it out of canvas used for boat & awning covers, and put grommets on it). Run is 9 x 13, buildings on outside of run with door accesses cut in the fence. So they have a nice size run for 3 hens. The store bought coop is now the nesting box, they have 2 buildings...lol
The girls took right too it. Went right in it last night. Have a string of 60 mini LED lights on the 2x4s at the roof and on a timer. Nesting box does have a string of the same lights, now unplugged.
This morning when I went out to do the chores I was greeted with their happy cooing clucks. A couple of pictures of the setup we have until we redo the run
