Chirping
My roost consist of boards laid flat that extend out over the nest boxes, with a 2-inch attached lip on outside edge, with angled top. The boards are sloped to the front and cover and extend over the nest boxes. I run my boards through a 10-inch wide planer so they will be smooth, and lay even with each other. I cut my own pine timber, and have it cut I-inch thick at local sawmill. The roost, is also the poop boards, unpainted. When I go out each day to collect eggs, and check on chickens, and their needs, I use a 12-inch long, by 6-inch wide brick layers mortar laying tool, with short wooden hand handle to scrape, and pick up the night droppings, because of now more chickens, and more coming on. I do this because I don't want the chickens walking in it and i will keep down oders.
