roost clearence

We are building an A frame tractor type coop.

Since it is narrow at the top we wanted to know what is the least amount of clearence between the wall and the roost that we can get away with and that will still allow the chickens to get up there.

If we need to put it off center how close to the wall can it be?
 
They'll probably have an easier time getting up the roost if you made multiple roosts going across the a-frame (so it actually looks like an A) than lengthwise. Ours have about 14 inches above their roost, and 18 inches on one side and 6 inches on the other.
 
Great solution!! I can't believe it didn't occur to us. That is what we did.
