Roost distance from nesting boxes

Hi! I'm a newbie to this chicken thing and am building my coop. Wanting to put the roost at 1 end in a large cabinet and the nesting area about 15-20 feet down the run in another large cabinet. Do the roost and nesting boxes need to be together? The run will have a roof if that matters. Thanks!!! I'm sure I'll be asking more in time!

The roost and nest boxes don't have to be next to each other if you have the room.

If you end up putting them close together, make sure the roosts are higher because their instincts are to go as high as they can when sleeping for the night and you don't want them sleeping (pooping) in the nesting boxes.
