I'm full of questions today! I only want to have to do this ONCE, so I want to make sure I'm doing right by my ladies.

How far below the ventilation holes (horizontal rows of 3" holes, covered with hardware cloth, most of the way around the perimeter of the coop, up where the roof meets the wall, about 6 feet up) should my roost be, to ensure my ladies won't catch drafts in our harsh northern New England winter wind?

Thank you! <3

I generally close my ventilation in winter on the prevailing winds side, which is generally north and west and leave the south and east open. I would put roosts about 1-2 feet below the ventilation holes. In summer more ventilation is needed, so hopefully you have some windows too.
