Roost in front of windows?

Need to open the soffits for winter ventilation.
You probably don't want open windows next to roosts during winter in your climate.
Well, so the soffits are screwed in from the top so without removing the roof... well. But if I need more ventilation I can easily add another vent on that wall. Thanks for the suggestion.

Is there a ridge vent?
What do they look like from the outside?
Could drill holes in the blocking...on all of them, both sides:
