I have two roost bars in my coop, each 4 feet long. One roost is about 6-8 inches higher than the other. I have 1 hen and 6 pullets. Each night when I check on the chickens, all 7 of them are on the higher roost bar. Since the pullets are not full grown this is not a problem, they seem to all be just fine. However, I am sure as they grow space is going to get tight on that roost bar. The way my coop is set up I could certainly raise the other bar to be of equal height as the highest. Do you think this would help them spread out a bit more? Or should I just let nature take its course and allow them to sort it out as they get bigger?
My only issue currently is that I am using DLM and because all of them are using the same roost all of my poo is gathering under one spot of the coop. (maybe this is a good thing though?)
