Roost with a view?

My darling and I just built our first coop, and it's a beauty. We haven't put in the roosts yet, but it looks like the internet consensus is that 2x4s are better than tree branches.
We have an old glass-paned window on one side of the coop, and I was wondering if the chickens will want to roost close or far from it? Do they like the view when they're roosting, or would they rather be away from it?
Any wisdom from experience (I have enough theories) would be much obliged.

Well when they roost it's dark and their sleeping so they prob wouldn't care one way or another!!

But it sounds like you really need to post pics of that coop!!

I agree, the light won't matter. But if it lets in some draft and you are up north, you may find yourself taping some bubble wrap over the window and frame in the winter.
Which is fine. Turn the bubbles to the glass, it gives a little insulation.

Well, it might insure that a roo starts crowing at the first crack of dawn!

Don't know about chickens, but I do know that in our indoor bird room I need to cover over the wndow in the doves' enclosure with a curtain at night. Without the curtain, they were getting startled out of their sleep by the wind moving the trees, etc.

LOL - I don't do windows! The coop windows are hardware cloth, and during the winter I put Plexiglas panels into the openings.

The nest boxes are in a location where the windows do not ever shine light; hens like darker, "safe" places to lay. So, the nest boxes are opposite a solid wall, and one window is in the same wall as the nests, off to one side. There are windows in the "ends" of the coop, which is 4' X 8' - a skinny long window at one end and a 12"x12" window in the people door.

I built my roosts this past weekend. I placed them at window level assuming they'd like the view. I'll find out soon enough if they will. I used a piece of 5/4 decking ripped in half and then rounded the cut edge so the roost width is just under 2 3/4" One window faces south and the other faces west.

Thank you for the compliments. I've got a thread going in this section but I haven't worked on it much since November. I'm hoping to have the hens in by this weekend.
