All of the sudden my americuana rooster has decided it would rather spend the night in the run roosting on a tree branch that I have for them. He has no interest in going inside the coop and spends all night there. Any thoughts as to why? This is fine at the moment but as the weather gets cooler I will be closing their door at night and he will be on the outside looking in.

Thanks

Is he your only rooster? Does he get along with all the hens? You could try turning a light on in the coop for a little while. Chickens are part moth :)

well sometimes some of my girls stay outside after i close the coop and i just catch them and put them back in is not good leaving them out cause a owl can snatch him so you migth want to catch him and put him in he will get the point that at nigth he should be in the coop thats how i trained my girls to roost in their roosting are and not on top of my brooders

He is my only rooster and has only began doing this crazy activity this week. I am not concerned about him being snatched up as my run is fully enclosed. He is just making no sense

well in that case its fine bird do that meybe its the heat ot something har to tell but you can still train him that at a certain time its time to go inside thats if you dont want him to stay outside
