Today I moved my big pullets/cockerels into the main pen with my older EE rooster and an EE hen. I moved the older hens to a smaller pen with the other roo. I moved the younger pullets/cockerels into the "Bunny Cage." And I moved my lone OE in a cage that I can put in the Bunny Cage when it's warm to get it used to the others.
So far things have gone okay. My EE roo, Pistol, is delighted to have so many new chickens. The EE hen, Mocha, is a bit too low on the pecking order to assert herself, so I have to make sure there's enough food for everyone.
What has amazed me is the number of blue birds I now have. Somehow, I also got a lilac out of the breedings, which is amazing to me. Most are EE and blue marans mixed with either EE or BR. I have two pure BR out of this. All of them seem to have good temperaments.
