Good morning everybody. I’ve got a concerning situation developing with my one of my favorite boys. He’s about a year or so old now so I’m hoping this is a phase but I’m uncertain and scared because his behavior has changed. Mr Two Dott is a big brahma boy that lives with 6 older pullets just about egg laying age and 7 pullets around 9 weeks and 3 cockerels( I really feel like I could win the lottery). He’s been really quite a gentleman to the little ones and only recently mounting the oldest girls. But this last week I’m starting to notice an escalation in behavior that I think might be a bad sign. It started with him trying to go after my wife’s and my feet. Wing dance and all. That by itself isn’t terribly odd for him but the difference is that showing him whose boss all of a sudden no longer works. He retreats for a bit and then wants to try again. Worse even is that the last two mornings he’s been really trying to mount my younger girls and he’s really quite aggressive about it. Unfortunately he seems to be mostly targeting my beautiful little Cemanis and I’m worried someone is going to get hurt. For right now he’s out free ranging and the girls are in their run while I figure out what to do. Is separating him in his dog crate for a few more weeks while everyone matures the proper thing here or are these all signs of a far too aggressive rooster?
I appreciate any help I can get. And if anyone needs more details I’m happy to give em.
