Rooster calling elk?

I have a silly rooster (Golden Comet) who apparently thinks he's an elk. He sounds just like one. Anyone else notice their rooster doing this or do I have a freak of nature? My other roos don't do it, just him.

We don't even have elk where I live-not sure where he picked up on that sound. I'll have to try and record him tomorrow and upload it to YouTube so others can hear it. My SIL kept laughing at him and told him that's not what he's supposed to sound like. :O) He usually makes that sound when he's standing guard over the flock. He is a very good watch dog. Maybe he's just letting his ladies know that he's watching over them.

It's goofy sounding to say the least. It's like a high pitched squeal.

I have 6 roos who started to crow -- well, try to crow -- a week or two ago. Every day the noises coming from the coop area are different. Pretty funny, before they get the hang of it. The biggest is the noisiest, of course. I keep wishing the smaller ones would try, too, just for fun.

I think I know what you mean about the elk sound -- pretty good description of some of the early attempts!
