Sorry I can't tell you what kinda roster he is, some one have him to my daughter while I was at work. We're new to chickens, I seen this and it doesn't look right. Some one had said fowl pox but I was under the impression it went away. Now he's got a black mark on his leg. I would say it statred about a month ago. I'm sorry, I'm not sure what else to say.

It looks more like his comb was injured and formed a back scab, now has white on it from healing. Combs can take a month or two to heal. I wouldn't do anything to it. Was he pecked by other roosters or hens before he came to you? Frostbite can look a bit similar, but with your green grass, it doesn't look that cold where you live. Fowl Pox usually causes pale beige to dark brown scabs, and that doesn't look like it to me.

He wasnt pecked, it's been cold at night here in Missouri but I don't think it's frost bite. We've had only one or two good frosts and I think it was seen before that.

If you think it is favus, a fungus, it certainly will not hurt to put some Lotrimin or Monistat 7 cream on it daily, but wear gloves. When I have seen favus, it usually is all white.

Well since this is my first time raising chickens I really am not sure.

If you have some coconut oil, you could apply some. That certainly would not hurt, and you may already have that. If it should spread, then get the anti-fungal cream. Roosters can injure combs on fencing, things inside the coop, or he might get pecked.

Ok I'll give that a try I appreciate it, if I doubt see some improvement I think it might be time for a vet visit.
