Rooster comb turning black

Anyone know why this is happening. It’s not a sudden occurrence. It’s been happening over time maybe like a few months. We live in south Texas so it’s not very cold here even during the winter. He will be one years old in a couple months.

It really looks as if he suffered slight frostbite. It only takes one night below freezing in some circumstances.

I agree it looks like frostbite. The black parts are necrotic and will fall off. No need to do anything to it unless it becomes infected.

I’m new to chickens, but it does look like frostbite. My boy got it pretty bad too back before christmas when that cold snap came through most of the country. I hope your boy heals up, he is so handsome!
