Should I take my rooster home at night and put him in a cardboard box in the house so he can get all his crows out for the day? I don't want him to crow in the afternoon and bother the neighbors.

I do not thing "get all his crows out" is a thing. The neighbors can get over it if you are legally allowed to have a rooster.

If the crowing is an insurmountable nuisance, either for zoning reasons or for noise abatement/neighborly peace, you'll need to re-home him or eat him.
We had to eat our other roosters :(
It was sad but we can't risk getting in trouble with the town so might as well have to eat this one.

:goodpost:

My rooster is a random crower. Some days he won't crow at all, some days he crows all day. Mornings being the most common time.
My rooster is still kinda small. He doesn't crow very well or often, only mornings when he feels like it. We thought he was a hen and kept him, but his brothers weren't so lucky. :(

Here is an update on him. We put him in a box under a chair with a pot on top. He kicked the box over twice! But he was super calm and didn't attack anyone. :love
