I have an orpington rooster and had doubts if he was going to be a good rooster.
This morning he started to do the rooster dance and I think it is a good sign.
He does does stomp his feet at me and give me the side stare once in awhile, after I carry him for 10 minutes or so he calms down.
Does roosters calm down with age? He is about 5 months going on 6 months.

Here is my rooster Solo. He just looks angry all the time.

I think roos do calm down a bit once they get through their teenage phase. I have also read that chickens eyes each have different abilities. The right eye sees well close up for hunting tiny bugs on the ground. The left eye sees well far off to watch for predators. I think this explains the sideways stares roosters often employ. Handsome guy!
