Rooster gasping w/ neck stretching out, bluish tint to comb, head & waddles, no food n crop, lost we

Found him at bed time. Also vent was dirtier than normal. Today also making a squealing mouse sound and head, waddles more darker reddish and less bluish. I looked way down his throat and saw nothing there were a few spots on roof of mouth that looked similar to wet pox. Last fall a couple caught pox, both wet and dry. Can't find my notes to check if he got them but the red pimple shaped things all over his head area showed up bout same time, also feathers on neck missing. He had lice and mites but treated him till gone. The shinny egg sacks around vent are back I noticed. Just never thought why feathers never grew back. I gave him bit/ electro water w/ antibiotics first soon after he pooped a bright green with large white cap. Then decided to give Tylenol 50 shot. He breathes thru his nose and out his mouth and this am while giving him vit/ electro water after he swallowed a few sec could hear a gurgling sound but wasn't sure if cause his craw was empty. Please help he is my only rooster that's " nice " to my hens.

Welcome to BYC. Do you have mosquitoes out right now? They are the insect that spreads fowl pox. If you don't have any now, he could have canker in his throat if he has yellow patches. That is a contagious protozoan infection which can be treated with metronidazole (FishZole, Flagyl.) Do you have a vet that could take a look at him? He also may have a respiratory disease causing the gasping and wheezing, although the throat problem could as well. Tylan 50 injectable 1 ml twice a day for 5 days is a good dosage, either as an injection or given by mouth. If he is 8 or more pounds you could even give 1.5 ml. Fish Zole is available online in 250 mg tablets if needed, and give 1/2 tablet twice a day for 5 days.

He is a Cochin banty. Not noticed Mosquitos yet but will have them. I read n the threads last night bout .5 ml Tylan 50 n the neck sub cue. Then after more reading found that it recommended 1.ml n chest muscle. Did he absorb any at all?? Lol. Can he get foul pox ( wet) again? The only internet I have is on my phone and can't go back to re read the rest of ur info, so give me a few.

No vet available to see. He has a small spot at inside corner of his mouth and 1 yellowish on roof of mouth, along with some brown ones. This morning also noticed down his throat I could see a open tube big around or bigger that a #2 pencil, with another very small hole next to it, whole area was pink/red except the big tube it was pearlish white. The large tube is his trachea I think because as he breathes it enlarges and shrinks a little. Also he stands up when I rub his neck and chest ( craw) like it feels good, does same but gets a little stiff and curls his head down like a swan when I rub his back further down. That's where his lungs are, correct? May have some flagyl here that was mine, will look, also have pen G.

Thanks so much for all the info to help Charlie. I plan to give him the Flagyl half a 250 mg tab 2xs per day for 5 days. The Tylan 50 but not sure dosage amount for a banty Cochin? He only weighs a couple pounds at most, will give n mouth.
How could he have caught the protozoan? We have had tons of rain last week and half. Since this is contagious how best to treat other flock members. I have 34 adult bantys, Americonanas and welsommer/ coo coo maran. 5 out side babies 3 or 4 mo old. I have my sick one Charlie n my mud room but at the other end of my house I have another apx 35 chicks n brooders. They are between 3 weeks and 5 weeks old. I will keep a close eye on others for respiratory problems. Again thank you so much.
