Well it finally happened today my rooster flogged me but he waited till my back was turned little terd. So my question is what's the best way to break this because today he met the side of a 5 gallon feed bucket I was carrying and that's not my favorite choice need some suggestions on what works and what doesn't.

I have seen a lot of people suggest picking him up and carrying him around when a rooster does that. I did that with one of mine (the one I still have) and it seems to have worked. I had a more aggressive roo I couldn't even catch to carry. He became somebody's dinner. The little guy I kept is now king of the flock and is a really good roo for the hens and he hasn't come at me since those first couple of times. I would just snatch him up and carry him around and pet him and talk to him. I guess it works sometimes.

I agree with this. Carrying them around seems to show them that you are way bigger and stronger than them, and it humbles them alot. I find that if I don't carry my roosters around for a while, they start giving me "that look". I really don't think the aggression is as bad as some people may make it sound. If you have a horrible rooster that attacks everything that comes near i there is a problem, but what you describe (he only flogs you when you have your back turned) i think he is just trying to defend his flock, or is simply confused about who wears the pants in your relationship :). I had a roo that did the same thing (little cowards!) and carrying him around and picking him up often stopped the problem.

Yea he just did it yesterday for the first time he runs from me when I try to pick him up. So I will start carrying him around and see if it works. He's a gorgeous rooster and is really good with the flock so never intend on getting rid of him unless I absolutely have to.
