I discovered our rooster got a few eggs from under our broody turkey somehow and took them under the house. Two were killed but I was able to get a third cracked one into the incubator. I removed some shell in the air cell and put bacitracin on its membrane. I can see the beak, but he seems to be getting tired/weaker and hasn’t moved at all, other than squirm around, so I am thinking about helping him out… This is day 28 exactly since mama hen started sitting on her eggs and the incident happened about 16-17 hours ago. Here’s a picture - it looks like there’s still blood vessels but I’m not sure. so I’m afraid to assist any more yet, but what do yall think? Should I wait or does the slower breathing mean she is going to suffocate because she can’t move? I’m anfraid he’s just resting annd I’ll mess him up but I don’t want to wait too late either. Also, is the white stringy stuff intestines or cord to the egg sac? Does this being up there by his face mean he’s injured from the break? Thx for any insights to try to save this one. I’ve moved the hen and remaining eggs into an isolated and secured pen now.
