In our recent batch of rescues, is a Rooster that wr named Romeo. He is not a dominant roo, and gets along well with our original roo, who started crowing a few months ago, but has shown no interest in mating yet. Anyway, Romeo seems to have a 'type'. I find this interesting because we were told all of the rescue Hens were laying, so I would assume he would be interested in all of them. Apparently, he really likes the Leghorns. They want nothing to do with him, but he will stalk them and try to ambush mate them. The first time Romeo tried this, our original roo heard the hen in distress, and got him off. After that, our roo seems to take it in stride. I can only assume he figured out that the hen wasn't being harmed. I do wonder why Romeo is only focused on our 3 Leghorns? Also, our Leghorns are going to a new home, and rooster, so I am worried that Romeo may be depressed for a bit after his favorite ladies disappear.
