I am so sad ...I just seperated my first flock of birds...the roo has been jumping on my hens and I decided enuff! The only reason I bought them was for Hens...and I didnt know I would cry when this time came! I was about to put up a sign FREE ROOSTER JUST TELL ME HES GOING TO A NICE HOME!! He really is a beautiful Rooster!!

I'm in the same boat. 9 roosters out of 15 chickens.
Husband brought the cage home today to take them
to a guy. All I can think about is those little fuzzy butt
chicks, but it is best for my hens. I'm too much of a softie,
and shouldn't have picked any from the staight runs, but my
luck wasn't good on purchasing pullets either 2 out of 5 of those
are looking like roos. Live and learn and don't pay extra for
pullet chicks.

I'm going to be in the same boat I think.

Six roos and even with a half acre pasture and 10X12 coop for 30 chickens total I don't think that's going to be enough room to keep them from fighting. It's so sad because I don't want to have to get rid of any of my roos! They're so beautiful when they are grown!

I have to get rid of one too. He's a real sweetheart and I thought for sure it was a hen.

I can't keep a roo here. Noise ordinance BS. I'm waiting to hear from a petting zoo to see if they would take him.

I'm out there in the yard collecting all his beautiful white feathers as keepsakes......

Another on the farewell-to-roos boat. Six to decide from which one to keep. Sigh. Rehoming would be ideal, but realistically, I imagine they may have short lives after leaving me.

Now I am questioning the sex of a couple of my RIR ..The definite roo is my Buff Orpington..I almost wanna take him back to Orschlens and tell they sold me a roo and I paid for a hen now you kill it cause I cant!!

I too have wayyy too many roos and young roos too. 6 adult roos and 4 cockerels @ 3 months old, plus 22 more chicks that just hatched, given my luck with breeding 90% roos I believe im up the creek without a paddle. TG they sell at the swaps. It is hard to rehome them tho

Im sad about having to sell one of my serama roos, he is one of my favs but not a good breeder as he is a lunker like his father.

So I took him out last night and my hubby said hes running his face into the cage trying to get in with the hens...should I put a board between them so he cant see the girls? Or should I try letting him back in with them? He jumped on one rir last nite and the other day he bit my other bo i know this is normal behavior but it is unwanted in my flock! I hated to seperate them but he was making the hens stay in the coop and its too hot they need to free range...once I pinned him up the girls came back out of the coop and run...Is his cage big enough at 3 foot wide 5 foot long and 3 foot high?

Wow...I don't think I would keep him even if you could have a rooster. He doesn't sound like a nice guy at all. All my roosters look out for their ladies. Take them into cooler spots, find food for them, and protect them with their life. Mine are NEVER mean to their girls.
