Rooster/Hen Ratio

Hi, I am new to raising chickens. I have 7 chicks and I believe I have 2 roosters. I know I’ll have to get rid of 1 but I was wondering if 5 hens is okay for 1 rooster. I know typically you want 8-10 Hens for a rooster but I wanted to know if anyone had had experience with less. Would the rooster hurt the hens?

It can depend on the rooster in my experience. I have had one in the past that ripped up their backs with even 12 hens while my current one has 4 hens and it works great

It really doesn't what breed, it's up to the individual rooster.

It could work or I could not. I have a little trio that has been great for years. No baldness or harassed hens.
