Rooster hurt a hen!!!

We have had hens for several years, but recently got a rooster (by mistake). In doing his duty, he has bitten the back of an older hen's head and left a couple of good sized holes. She is terrified and I am heart-broken. I know they're chickens, but what can I do? Short of having the rooster for dinner...

I'd need to help Bernice heal and I'd like to find a way to stop Rooster from harming her or any of the others.
