rooster lands on chick

my broody has a one week old batch of chicks. my rooster jumped off a stump and onto the chick unfortunately.

saw it happen.

chick tried to shake it off, but couldn't keep up with mama any more, so i scooped it up and put it under my brinsea.

it seems to be panting a little, sleeping a little, peeping for my company a little, but not half as active as i'd like to see.

poor little thing, and i was thinking it was a girl, too! really like to do all i can to help it.

update: chick woke from nap peeping loudly. i picked up the brooder so that i could see it move. i walked right over and stood in the cat's dish and proclaimed itself ruler of our roost. so i put it back with mom. will check on it in an hour.
