Rooster "nesting"?

What is he doing? He does this a night too and I thought maybe his feet hurt from a too narrow roost so I put up 2x4s wide side up and he's roosting on that but still does this? Is this his way of being "cool" like the hens? Or what?

Roosters will often try to show hens a good place to lay their eggs. I can't quite see your video, but it sounds like that's what he is doing.
