Rooster not crowing

I have recently acquired a 10 month old rooster. Having only had hens in the past I'm not current on rooster behavior. He hasn't crowed at all since we've had him (about 6 weeks). Is that normal? Also, he appears to have no interest in the hens. He just acts like one of the girls. Is this normal behavior or do we have a problem?
Thanks
My experience with roosters is, they generally start "cock-a-doodle-doing" about 9 or 10 months old, but that's not always the case. Some are almost a year old before they start -
some do so before hand. Our ''Roo" is about 1 1/2 years old. He starts waking us up about
4:50 a.m. :wee and doesn't shut-up until almost sundown !
So ~ enjoy the quiet ! Actually, as I think about it, we had 2 Banty Roosters,
and neither one of them were really big ''crowers". And neither one of them sounded off with any regularity. Give him time... He'll get with the program !
