Rooster not like the others

Hello,

Have a rooster that I’m looking for a guess on breed. It is 16 weeks old and was purchased as straight run of Black Australorps and French Black Copper Marans. He looks like neither to me. Handsome guy, just don’t know what he is.

I don't know what he is, other than gorgeous.

Where did you get him? A hatchery? A farm store? A local breeder?

Hoover’s. He is very docile.

Hoover's is known for having birds that only vaguely resemble the breed SOP, so he might be a "Black Copper" Marans who happens to be silver instead of copper. Or he might be a Birchen Marans if they're working up to including that breed in the future and are tossing extras into the assortments.

He's really beautiful!

Thank everyone. Next year I do want to pick up more Maran Pullets next Spring. I will try to find a good breeder.
