Rooster or hen?

Another rooster or hen question... but need some help determining if I need to start looking for a new home. EE approx 8 Weeks old. Does occasionally make some crow-like sounds in the morning. Thank you!

Idk. I have a hard time with ee gender. (My rooster is Doris and I have a hen named Gus.)
But that color pattern is beautiful! I hope that's a pullet.

I'm thinking cockerel too. Are you sure he's only 8 weeks old? He seems rather large, my 8 week olds are still pretty small.

Right? What a bummer. Trying to tell ourselves “maybe it is a crowing hen”

Some hens do crow. You’d be surprised.

I agree - how can this bird be so big?? I’m starting to question the age myself.

I’ve read SO MUCH trying to figure this out. For my knowledge, would you tell me what makes you think cockerel?

It has to do with the size and shape of his comb. It is rather large, or so it appears from the pictures. Plus, with my EE's and Ameraucanas I have found that for pea combs, if they have three rows they're a boy and one row they're a girl.

Plus the tail feathers look like their starting to come in as large and curled.

Give him/her another week or two. If he is a he, he will most likely get reddish colors on his shoulders.
