Rooster or Hen?

Can anyone tell the difference they are barred rock and rhode island.

The one starring at me in the first picture looks like a rooster, but could you get better pictures?

I agree the one staring looks like a roo. I love my barred rocks!

I agree. I think the one looking up in the first picture is a roo. If you look at their combs you might be able to see a size difference. The roos will have the bigger ones. Also their feathers might be different. Any roosters might be starting to grow in their sickles.

Those birds look to be four to five weeks old. Any red coloring in comb at that age is a cockerel with these breeds.

Definitely some roos in there! Hard to tell. Any of the chicks with bigger and redder combs and wattles are most likely roosters and the ones that start to develop longer hackle and sickle feathers in the coming weeks are rooster for sure! Good luck with them I love Barred Rocks.
