Rooster owners - how long to let spurs grow?

On a side note, I use just a cuttoff wheel designed for doing small bolts, it is quick you hold he cuts, and the wheel cauterizes the quick so you have no bleeding. But the ground nail/spur stinks.

As soon as we get the time Thor will be getting a spur adjustment. I'll check his toenails at that time, although he keeps them pretty well trimmed himself, scratching around all the time. Right now I only have one hen in a saddle. I don't know what it is about her, but Thor thinks she's pretty special.
