what are the Pros and Cons to integrating a Rooster to our flock of 20 (30 week old) laying hens?

Our neighbor farmer hatched cicks and has a rooster baby.. we are thinking of bringing him home, might be good for our gals?

I love My Buff Orphington Roo. He is a handsome fella. He is loud in the morning and makes my wife angry. She has not tried to eat him yet, thankfully. He does get wild with the girls making them get loud! He is only 21 weeks old. He has started to put them in the hen house in the evening.

If you want to hatch chicks, then you'll need a rooster, two or three for 20 hens. Roosters also help alert hens of predators and will find food for them. So he should be good as long as he doesn't get aggressive.

If your hens tend to wander too far, a rooster can help with that. A good roo will also lay his life on the line to protect his girls. And best of all, they crow reeeeally early in the morning!
