Rooster protecting from cats?

Would having a rooster protect the flock from cats? I am planning on having all hens, but if a rooster would help protect from cats, then I will consider getting one.

Of course he would. A cat is no match for a rooster, heck even hens can easily intimidate cats, excepting those rather limp and docile breeds like Silkies and Favorelle.

We lost a five week old pullet last year to a stray cat. Shocked my neighbor some, he was on his deck watching the wee ones jumping to catch flying ants when in a flash a cat pounced from a small opening under the shed/storage area of our house then pulled his prey back in just as quick. Really no protection from ambush.

Yep, he should be good for that. Once he's big enough that is. As Egghead_jr pointed out, a young chicken, pullet or cockerel, is vulnerable, even to domestic cats.
Actually, the girls themselves, with or without a roo, can handle a cat when they get older and larger.
