One of my hens just started laying and the rooster we got, (who seems in every other way to be a nice bird) pulled out her neck feathers. I wanted to put a saddle on her but it won't reach high enough. What should I do? I don't have any place to put her to let her heal up. And she will lay again in 2 days. The other hens seem to be leaving her alone.

Now is it bloody or did he just pull some out? If it is bloody I would take her away until it is better if it was just some pulled feathers don’t worry

It was very bloody. I put her in a cage. I also cleaned it out and put peroxide and anti-biotic ointment on it. I hope that's okay. In retrospect i wonder if I shouldn't have done the peroxide. But oh well. She's not happy about being in the cage. She keeps trying to fly up to her sisters. Poor baby. I feel so bad for her. How long do I need to keep her separate?
